Michigan Dept. of Treasury denies request to remove Lapeer’s ‘underfunded’ status

LAPEER — The Michigan Dept. of Treasury has denied a waiver request from Lapeer officials seeking to remove the city’s “underfunded” status due to projected shortfall of nearly $25 million for retiree health care benefits.
